This cafe always leaves me conflicted. The food is great and - surprisingly - great value for money. Where else can you get a white bean and duck confit jaffle for only six bucks in the middle of a CBD? Or freshly made pistachio baked goods of various descriptions ... even if they are sometimes on the sweet side. Unfortunately, the coffee is basically undrinkable. It's like there's a party in my mouth. And everyone is butting out their cigarettes on my tongue. The coffee is a let-down to both the great food and the staff, all of whom are warm and polite and many of whom actually know their way around a coffee machine pretty well. Shannon Bennett has a fantastic palate and leads the Melbourne restaurant scene in many ways. Why can't he lead them to start serving fresh coffee?

You know it's gotta be great when you can't get a seat. The best coffee bar none in Melbourne, and it looks like it can only get better.

What a heap of rubbish. Trying to gain a reputation just by serving illy coffee, it doesnt work in Melbourne. shame, shame, shame
