Absolutely fabulous. What a surprise! Thought it was going to be the run of the mill touristy "bucket of chips" style cafeteria - but what we got was a white table cloth fine dining experience. All the lunch offerings were under $20, I had the Kangaroo (after throwing caution to the wind) and my colleague the Tuscan Burger. Both were exceptional, one of the best meals eaten in a while. The caramelised onion and chutney on the bit of burger I begged were delicious. My kangaroo was outstanding, cooked to perfection with a potato, zuchinni and pancetta rosti doused in red wine reduction left me wanting more! Large servings, great service, sneaking a peak at the wine list found it to be extensive and well thought. A great view over the Silver City finishes the experience.
Broken Earth Restaurant is situated on top of the "line of lode" which looks over the main township of Broken Hill. The view and its modern/trendy looks make it seem like the ideal place for a perfect night out or relaxing lunch looking over Broken Hill... Sadly this is far from the truth. Over the past 2 years I have dined at this cafe/restaurant for both lunch and dinner and have never had a decent meal. The menu is largely overpriced and the table service is usually poor, giving credit to some young waiters/waitresses who are obviously making an effort. Meals are well presented, however are bland and usually over/undercooked. This is not how a restaurant makes a good name for itself. Never before have I had such a poor dining experience, that has repeated itself over and over again; this view is shared by not only my colleagues at work, but also with other friends who have been there for a meal in recent times. Such a waste of a great view....
Coffee was watery and tasteless. Staff were rude and distant. Food is grossly over-priced. Stay away - coffee at Broken Hill McCafe was better!!!
