We visited the gardens early in the school holdiays and stopped to have lunch in the restaurant. It has a great view from the balcony. We were really disappointed with the restaurant because of the service. The staff wouldn't let anyone sit out on the balcony because it had rained early in the day (presumably they didn't want to wipe down the chairs?). It took over an hour and a half to receive a cup of coffee and two steak sandwiches. We had to chase down a staff member just to get seated and then again to order food. We watched people leave in frustration when they couldn't get served and watched hot drinks sit on the front counter waiting to be delivered. When the food arrived it tasted ok but was cold. We really love the gardens and have been many times before but definately won't bother eating at the restaurant again.
