Attached to a nursery, Kingfisher Cafe is one of those places that has changed hands seemingly many times, and gone through huge phases of good and bad food and coffee. Thankfully, it's been steadily on the up for a couple of years now, and seems to get better each time I go. They also do catering for weddings both onsite, and at another venue, so they clearly know their food quite well. To be honest, every time I go there I pretty much just scoff their beer battered chips, and a piece of cake, but watching other meals come out, I really should broaden my horizons. They are well presented, and look excellent. The coffee is great. They use a very full bodied blend, but no hint of bitterness, and roasted locally in Toowoomba. Watching the staff, they take care and pride in their coffee, pouring latte art when they have the time. Service is always fairly good, however on some days, they seem to get ambushed (they have a lot of tables), but generally cope quite well. Their cake selection is worth going for alone. Every day, new things in the cake cabinet, and some of the basics such as their Citrus Tart and Apple pie just open your eyes to just how good they can be. It's a refreshing change from many cafe's who simply outsource their sweets selection.
