Looks like the volume would be a little small for my liking. And I'm not sure how those who like to roast with dataloggers would go about it.
I can also imagine someone burning their apartment down quite easily.

Yes it will work but it wont roast large volumes, due in part because a lot of heat is lost on the open mesh design
I once designed a tin can roaster, is was powered by adjustable speed drill and a heat gun as the heat source
